This is Meghan Trainor making songs about accepting your body the way it is and then jumping on Ozempic immediatly when it came out coded
Don’t forget that she preached about body positivity while shaming flat-assed skinny bitches in the same song.
yeah, that's actually why she's BS. i don't think there's anything wrong with her losing weight and it doesn't automatically negate body positivity.
but it's not body positivity if you slam others.

A lot of "body positivity" statements do this inherently. How many times have we hear "real women have curves" or that men who like skinny women are "attracted to children". Those statements are effectively body shaming women who are thin.
Something something systemic oppression lmao. For some reason these days you can bully people as long as you're not "punching down". Totally not problematic. It's a real mystery why the GoP has latched onto Manosphere influencers (because all young men online hear is how bad they are and leftists aren't even talking to them ya know)
It's what made it obvious she wasn't sincere about body positivity at all to begin with. She was very clearly seething with envy at thin people
In my younger teenage years we had some guy come in to give us a presentation/seminar type thing about body positivity.
During his presentation, he flicked through slides of terrible unflattering photos of celebrities. You know, the type you see by paparazzi where someone is out for a jog, mid sneeze, with messy hair. Or have a rash or whatever.
He literally just flipped through them saying "Look how ugly these people are without their makeup and Photoshop."
Not even trying to find normal photos of them without makeup, but specifically ones to make them look bad.
And that's it. There was no "People look better sometimes, other days they don't care about looking worse. Even your idols aren't worried about looking perfect all the time. It's fine."
NOPE. His point was "These celebrities are ugly too. This is how ugly they look without makeup. So stop feeling sad about the fact youre ugly."
...
That fucker has still stuck in my mind almost 20 years later. What a fucker. What student body thought to let some hack try to educate us on body positivity by just insulting everyone.
It's like a presentation/lecture about depression, and saying "Yeah life sucks for all of us and death would be a sweet release, we all feel that way, so stop feeling sorry for yourself."
Grrrrr crazy how I'm sat here typing, absolutely fuming, almost two decades afterwards.
Yeahhhh honestly fuck that bitch.
No thanks
LOOOL
But she says just kidding...
I really don't understand the argument that this is a hypocritical stance to take. The body positivity was never that everyone should be fat or that you can't or shouldn't change yourself. It was about how it's okay to accept who you are at this point in your life. That being overweight doesn't make you a worse person, and you shouldn't be made to feel bad as a person for being overweight.
It was always about how you are more than just your weight. Sure, you might be big, but that's not all you are. You are a whole ass valid person with hopes and dreams and feelings and that what you look like doesn't change that. I would say that people who make the argument that it's disingenuous for someone to preach body positivity and then go on a glp-1 have completely missed the point of the movement by continuing to conflate body and appearance with who you are as a person.
This is Reddit pal. No nuance allowed here
There were three things conflated with each other under "body positivity". That you shouldn't be treated badly, disrespectfully, or like not a human being, because of your weight, which is true and no one should ever be acting otherwise. That you are still pretty even if you're fat, which is subjective but doesn't tend to follow society's general conclusion. That you are fully healthy even if you're fat, which is probably untrue.
If someone says treat fat people like human beings and goes on Ozempic, that's not hypocritical. If someone says fat people are beautiful and then goes on Ozempic for vanity reasons, that is pretty hypocritical.
I think we all know nuance is extremely hard for humans, so "We shouldn't be made fun of for our looks, but it would be absurd to deny being conventionally attractive isn't fun" is always going to be a huge struggle and people tend to need a "us vs them" (at least, until they can switch sides)
No movement crash and burned as bad as fat acceptance. All of the people pushing it either died at like 32 or took ozempic and said "lol jk".
Died at 32!? Lmfao noooo
Im still here.
My issue isn't the nose. It's they they kept calling him an aardvark afterwards. The first book is indeed what a cartoony aardvark would like.
The Arthur we know today is like just generic mammal.
For those unaware of what an aardvark is it's an African mammals that I could describe as a rat with the posture of an armadillo without a shell, rabbit-ish ears, the nose of a pig that tried to be an elephant and rat tail
I think when god was making animals he had a few spare parts left over so made aardvarks and platypus
i think giraffes got some sorta spare part in there too
"We got a whole warehouse of leftover neck bones, where should we put them boss?"
"Just stick them in the giraffes, whatever"
"Are you sure, its a lot of bones"
"Yeah it'll be fine, nobody will notice a couple of extra bones"
I like the mental image, but I'm p sure giraffes don't have any more bones in their necks than humans do? Like, 7 vertebrae or something, they're just very very big. (I could be wrong, just something that stuck after a childhood of watching animal planet)
You know, I \*thought they were just anteaters until today, had to look it up bc "surely everyone already knows what an aardvark/anteater looks like" was the first thing I thought. TIL
Convergent evolution. They look like each other cause that particular body type is good for digging and eating ants and other bugs.
Anteaters are part of the superorder called Xenarthra it's native to South America and also includes sloths and armadillos.
Aardvarks are part of the superorder called Afrotheria. It includes elephants and manatees. Which I guess explains the nasal relationship.
I did some quick research. The groups are kind of very distant cousins but there last common ancestor was about 89 million years ago which was back when non-avian dinosaurs were still around
This book can’t stop me because I can’t read
No mention of the “tone” difference? 🤔
or that he became a whole different animal?
He went from being an anteater to being an aardvark, right?
yep, though he looks quite a bit like a Koala, me thinks.
I think he looks more like a capybara.
Thats what a good nose job can do to a mf
I will point out that the illustrations for Arthur's Eyes are identical to how he looks in Arthur's Nose. The cover on the right was the new one, changed to match the tv show.

Yep, thanks for pointing it out. There's a number of Arthur books that were made with the old illustrations. I think the overall design change came about in order to make the show, no?
I was confused why neither versions in OP looked like what I read as a child, you have resolved that, thanks!
It's only giving me the option to attach videos for some reason, so here's a link to the image if anyone else is curious
I didn't realize he was originally an aardvark. He's def changed to a bear, no matter what they say.
There's an episode of Arthur where they do a spelling bee and he spells aardvark to a rhythm and that little thing pops into my head randomly so often
A A R D VARK
Book 2: Arthur your eyes are fine the way they are. Book 3: Gets lasik eye surgery.
He looks so much happier too.
I thought Arthur was an hamster
...Arthur Aardvark.
Body positivity influencers the minute they earn enough money for liposuction:
I like how PBG went from being known as the Zelda guy to basically being the number 1 Arthur fan account
I can picture his publisher being like "Hey, I like your stories... but this aesthetic has to burn and die in the 70s with disco. We're doing less hair, giving him a nose job, and going with that new watercolor template that's all the rage" lol.
Why am I not surprised that this post is by PBG?
