Why should I care I can open the garbage bin faster than I can open my fridge? I still won’t eat anything from the garbage.
A scholar AND a poet?!
Fantastic analogy
Pure poetry.
The advantage of Epic opening faster at start up is that it reminds you to remove that and review many other programs from start up. Epic helps your PC start up faster after that! /s
That's a real post?
I mean, any vibe coded launcher can't be worse than their own current launcher

Somehow it's real, almost didn't believe it myself
Dam, they managed to release a beta with half the features of a launcher that has a tenth of the features Steam has
Of course it launches twice as fast if it has half the fucking features, are they stupid?
this is exactly the short sightedness of Epic as a whole . Anyone with half a brain would realize they would be torn a new one with this exact comment all over.
Oh wow they removed features.
what features did they even have to remove in the first place
This feels like either a 19 year old trying "casual professional speak" or a 50 year old attempting youth speak
Worse : an AI trained with both
What, they want humans to report the bugs? For free? Why aren't they asking AI to do it instead? They're paying for it already.
I expected to be a random shit post due to the amount of boxes it ticks.
AI slop
Juvenile writing
"Epic better than Steam lol"
Those are NOT the reasons why we use Steam
I don’t think they’re actually trying to get people away from Steam I think they’re trying to get people who have never been on Steam to think that epic is better. There’s no way they think they can actually get customers to switch with their garbage platform.
And let's be honest, if they didn't have fortnite, epic wouldn't have its own store, unlike steam who even if you don't include counter strike, there's a boat load of reasons to use steam
I mean in all fairness, Steam started as basically nuisance ware that only exists because it was tied to Half Life 2, it’s just they now have a multi decade head start on building out their platform and developing network effects
“Hey Claude, remove any encryptions from our launcher’s startup procedure. I need to make an ad real quick.”
I was thinking the same exact thing. Hopefully they leave the prompt in the codebase. ;)
People close Steam?
I deadass was just thinking this 'cause I never do.
Is anyone actually not switching because of the load times?
I thought it was because they have fever games to offer and no workshop and no proper friendlist + chat + voice and no community tabs to share text, pictures and videos and no community forum inside the launcher and no way to personalize a profile and no community driven groups and no streaming and no recording-tool
ok, i'll stop already...
7 years btw since Epic Store launched its launcher, it still lacks basic stuff.
I really dislike that i have to launch Rocket League with Epic
Is this true for Rocket League bought on Steam too? (I haven't played it for ages so I have no clue)
Are they proud of it?
"YES!"
It feels like they are trying to market themselves to the weird AI Chud niche.
What a relief. Now I'll be able to close it 46% faster when I forget to disable app autostart and go back to Steam.
But these stats only matter if I bother opening up Epic in the first place lol.
I guess I can get their free game 5 seconds faster before closing the launcher again.

I…they’re bragging because their launcher opens 5 seconds faster? And they vibe coded their way to it? Dumb as hell
as long as they actually don't poach devs but try to make competitive product with steam, I'm happy with that
I mean, I'm pretty sure they just fired or redistributed a whole bunch of fortnite devs so they can vibe code the new disney fortnite gamemode soooooo
Steam could go down and i'd still refuse to use epic lmao, steam being insanely objectively better isn't the problem with epic
